MICHAEL Satanek

Michael Satanek brings more than 15 years of maritime engineering, naval architecture, shipyard and vessel operations experience to his role as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Gunderson Marine & Iron.

Throughout his career, Michael has led engineering teams and complex marine projects spanning new construction, vessel repair, drydockings, structural renewals, fleet maintenance and capital planning. Before joining Gunderson, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Mainstay Maritime, where he led the engineering department and oversaw annual vessel repairs, refits, drydockings and maintenance.

His career also includes leadership and engineering roles with American Steamship Company and Great Lakes Shipyard, as well as early shipbuilding experience with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works.

At GM&I, Michael leads the engineering organization and works closely with production and project teams to support efficient project execution and the continued growth of the company's marine and complex fabrication capabilities.

Michael holds a B.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the ABS Great Lakes Technical Committee.
